Mendoza City, Argentina
On October 9th, the Mendoza Committee of the Global Network of Great Wine Capitals awarded prizes for The Best of Viticulture Tourism in Mendoza, 2009. More than 40 wineries and institutions related to eno-tourism took part in the contest.
The Sheraton Hotel in Mendoza provided the venue for the event. Awards were presented for 7 categories: Architecture, Parks & Gardens, Lodging, Relevant Experiences in Eno-Tourism, Art & Culture, Tourism-Related Services, and Restaurants & Sustainable Practices in Eno-Tourism.
Algodon Wine Estates was awarded the Silver Medal for the "Lodging" category, which recognizes excellence in eno-tourism hospitality. This is the first year Algodon Wine Estates participated in this category.
Algodon Wine Estates was also awarded -for the second year in a row- with the Silver Medal for "Relevant Experiences in Eno-Tourism". This category is informed by activities carried out within the estate that allow visitors to enjoy wine-related experiences. These activities include horseback riding, mountain bike (MTB) tours, golf among the vineyards, wine tasting & food matching seminars, pruning & harvesting tours, as well as weddings, inaugural, and other hosted social events.
