Buenos Aires among world’s 10 happiest cities
Tango declared part of world's cultural heritage by U.N.
It is with great pleasure that Algodon Wine Estates announces our achievements of the 2010 Gold Medal (National Award) for Lodging, and the 2010 Silver Medal for Innovative Wine Tourism Experiences from Great Wine Capitals Global Network. Algodon Wine Estates also has the prestigious distinction of being only one of three Argentine wineries awarded supplementary medals in addition to gold; the other two wineries being the Norton Winery and Zuccardi. Our gold medal award qualifies us to advance to the international award competition in November, which includes participants from eight major global cities in both the northern and southern hemispheres. These cities represent the "Old" and "New" worlds of wine, which (in addition to Mendoza) include Cape Town, Florence, Mainz, Porto, Bilbao-Rioja, San Francisco-Napa Valley, and Bordeaux, where this year's ceremony will be held. Algodon Wine Estates feels honored for this notable achievement, and we would like to acknowledge and congratulate our hard working employees who are committed to delivering their best efforts every day.
Last year, Algodon Wine Estates took home the Silver Medal for the Lodging category, which recognizes excellence in eno-tourism hospitality. This is the 3rd year in a row in which we have been awarded with the Silver Medal for Innovative Wine Tourism Experiences. This category is informed by activities carried out within the estate that allow visitors to enjoy wine-related experiences. These activities include horseback riding, mountain bike tours, golf among the vineyards, wine tasting & food matching seminars, pruning & harvesting tours, as well as weddings, inaugural, and other hosted social events.
This year's awards event, which was held at the Enoteca Mendoza, included 45 entrants from Argentina as well as personalities from the world of wine such as Angel Vespa, president of Bodegas de Argentina; Jose Luis Lanzarini, president of the Wine Fund; Mark Abihaggle, owner of Pro Mendoza; and Luis Böhm representing the Minister of Tourism.
