Tennis Center update from the Design Architect: Gerhard Heusch

Hello All,

We are all very enthusiastic about the prospect of bringing a challenger tournament and tennis academy to Algodon Wine Estates in the near future and perhaps some exhibition matches (with notable tennis personalities) that José Luis Clerc will organize in the meantime.

Among the notable elements reflected in the new plan are the seating in the sunken Grand Center Court seating: it will be on all four sides with VIP seating at the ends and will accommodate nearly 700 people; and the mix of surfaces in the complex: there will be 8 clay courts, 2 grass courts, and 1 hard court.

The existing restaurant will be expanded adding a spacious second story and a grand terrace, which overlooks the tennis courts on one side and the driving range on the other. This will dramatically increase the restaurant seating capacity. Design work has begun and we hope to begin construction by the fall.

A new golf and tennis clubhouse will be built to the east of the courts, with a terrace at ground level overlooking the tennis courts with an additional terrace overlooking the fairway of golf hole number one.

In addition to plans for a new clubhouse, plans to upgrade our existing clubhouse include changing rooms for golf and tennis; steam showers, saunas, and massage rooms; a state of the art 1,000 sq/ft gym; a lounge with TV, WiFi, phone, bar, etc.; one pro shop for tennis and one for golf.  José Luis Clerc emphasizes that the locker room and lounge will be very comfortable, because this is what sways players to come and play often, and is perhaps a change from the local club that they already belong to.  These upgrades will be completed after the restaurant expansion.

We are hoping to finish most of this in 2009, and by next year we hope to be hosting the Algodon Malbec Classic.  Keep in mind that by year-end the new 18-hole course will also be playable...we're all very excited as progress continues.

Best Regards,
