Vineyard Estate Homesite Sales Move Forward
Editorial from Scott Mathis, Chairman & Founder
Our new partnerships with Sotheby's and MyWinesDirect.com are very exciting! I want to reiterate what a special project we have at Algodon Wine Estates on every level. From our wines, to our vineyard estate homesites, to the Champions Club...Algodon Wine Estates is really making a name for itself:
Our wines continue to get better and better. Our Bonarda, which just won the Double Gold and Category Champion at last month's VINUS competition in Mendoza, is a truly spectacular wine and obviously we're not the only ones to think so. This is what we've been saying for a long time now; that our vineyards and our winemakers are great combination. I believe we may someday see San Rafael, and even Algodon Wine Estates as synonymous with the world's best Bonarda. Congratulations to our winemakers for our recent acknowledgements. Thanks and great job!
Sotheby's is excited about marketing our project, and points out that one of the reasons these luxury vineyard real-estate developments do not commonly exist elsewhere in the world is that it would be cost-prohibitive to create a luxury development with golf, tennis and a hotel connected to such high-quality vineyards. For example, you cannot economically buy land in any of the top wine regions of the world (such as France, Italy, Spain, Napa, etc...) on-or-around top quality vineyards that produce bottles of wine selling for premium prices. I believe we entered this project through a window of opportunity; this type of development may be unique around the world, and may well soon be unique (and cost prohibitive) in Argentina, as Mendoza is fast becoming a renowned wine capital. We are excited, and feel that we entered this project at the right time.
The Champion Club's tennis is officially playable for guests staying at the estate. In fact, we've already scheduled an Inaugural Tennis Tournament for October and a Clerc Veterans Classic for November. By then, the Argentine summer will be close at hand and the grass courts will be mature enough to play, as well. It should be an exciting summer! By that time the entire 18 holes of the golf course will be open for the first time also, and I imagine the golf course's entire season will be a busy one.
The press being received by Algodon Mansion continues to build. The mansion's architecture and sophisticated interior design are well-loved by the fashion industry, as evidenced by the many high-end fashion shoots that continue to use our hotel as their backdrop. Luxury brands also seem to love us as a venue for their product launches, and for that I am very thankful to our designers who have worked so hard to create such a beautiful destination. The vision is almost complete, and our long-awaited Grand Opening is upon us!
