We are thrilled to announce that Algodon Wines recently received five prestigious honors at the 7th International Wine and Spirits VINUS 2010.  The tasting competition is among the most recognized in the world of wine and spirits, and was attended this year by participants from 25 countries.  The Bicentennial-themed competition took place from May 16-20 in the Province of Mendoza, and was overseen by 48 international jurors.

Algodon's 2008 Bonarda was one of the evening's big winners, receiving two awards including Double Gold, followed by Category Champion.  Algodon's 2008 Gran Reserva was also a big winner, taking home Double Gold.  Last but not least, our 2008 Malbec took Gold, and our 2009 Semillon took Silver.  Congratulations to our winemakers and all involved in our wine production!

The venue was hosted at the Hotel Bonarda in Mendoza's District of Guaymallén, and the organizers of the event included Mendoza's House of Representatives, the National Institute of Viticulture (INV), and Mendoza's Tourism Office.  Wineries and distilleries from Argentina won 121 prizes, followed by Brazil (22), Israel (6), Chile (3), Ecuador (3), the Czech Republic (1) and Uruguay (1).  VINUS highest award "Double Gold" went to 25 wines, 17 of which were produced by wineries in the Province of Mendoza.
