Tourism in Argentina Expects Record Numbers in 2010

Argentina's Secretary of Tourism, Enrique Meyer, recently announced that 9.5 million domestic and foreign visitors are expected to travel to different destinations across the country in January, 2010.  If that number is indeed achieved, tourism will have risen by 10.2% from the previous year, and would be the largest number for that month in a decade.

"The outlook for February and March is similar, so we're looking at the chance of a record summer season," Meyer said.

The number of summer tourists in Argentina rose 32% from 2003 to 2009.  The higher numbers for the 2010 summer season are expected to top those of the two previous years due to improved global economics and Argentina's competitive prices relative to those of its neighbors, the statement said.

Forbes names Buenos Aires among "World's Top Party Cities" 2010

"South American warmth mixed with European style give Buenos Aires a friendly, timeless quality. Restaurants don't start filling up with steak-eating dinner crowds until around 1 a.m. When night falls, bars in Palermo and San Telmo swarm with chic locals sipping bottomless glasses of Argentina's to-die-for wines..."  (source:  Forbes)
