Algodon Wine Estates is the International Winner for Excellence in Accommodations!

After winning the 2010 national Gold Medal in Accommodation from Great Wine Capitals "Best of Wine Tourism" Competition, Algodon Wine Estates qualified to advance to the international level, and final round of consideration, for the grand prize.  On November 5, 2009 at a special awards gala at Château Giscours, Grand Cru Classé de Margaux in Bordeaux, it was announced that Algodon Wine Estates is the 2010 International Winner for excellence in Accommodation!

Our fellow competitors for this prestigious award included participants from eight major global cities in both the northern and southern hemispheres.  These cities represent the "Old" and "New" worlds of wine, which (in addition to Mendoza, Argentina) included Cape Town (South Africa), Florence (Italy), Mainz (Germany), Porto (Portugal), Bilbao-Rioja (Spain), San Francisco-Napa Valley (US), and Bordeaux (France).  Last year, Algodon Wine Estates received the national Silver Medal in the Accommodations category, and the Global Winner in Accommodation was Château de Carbonneau in Bordeaux, France.

In addition to this reputable award, our San Rafael vineyard estate was also the recipient of the national Silver Medal in the category Innovative Wine Tourism Experiences, for the 3rd year in a row.  Algodon Wine Estates is a recurring contender in this category as we offer horseback riding, mountain bike tours, championship golf among the vineyards, championship tennis, wine tasting & food matching seminars, pruning & harvesting tours, as well as weddings, inaugural, and other hosted social events.

Approximately 400 wineries and wine tourism businesses participated in this year's "Best Of" awards contest.  National and International winners receive personalized plaques to display on their properties denoting the distinction, and International winners appear in Great Wine Capitals Best Of Wine Tourism brochure; a 30-page booklet with listed summaries of winners and a description of their property with 20,000 copies distributed worldwide.

Diego Coll Benegas, Algodon Wine Estates Director of Project Development, Tourism & Hospitality remarks, "This distinction is for us a great pleasure and an honor.  This prize belongs to our team that is working day after day, and always worries for the quality of the services and for the improvements of our hospitality.  It is a great opportunity for the wine lovers to know us better and to visit us.  It certainly encourages us to keep working and improving".

Congratulations to the staff of Algodon Wine Estates!
