The Algodon

Editorial from Scott Mathis, Chairman & Founder

I must say that I am pleasantly surprised, and now very happy to report to all of our shareholders the amount of awards we have won in the past several weeks.  In the last month alone we have won four very noteworthy awards, from very significant- and very competitive- competitions, and we couldn't be in higher spirits!  We received one Gold Medal for Algodon Wine Estates' olive oil, one Gold Medal for our lodging at the vineyards, a Silver Medal for our Cabernet and another Silver Medal for the overall wine tourism experience that we offer.  We are truly reaching our goals!

On top of all that, it was just announced that Tablet Hotels will feature us as one of their Top 10 new hotels (selected from all of North and South America).  This special edition has a distribution of 180,000 printed copies going to frequent travelers and other hotels.  Digital downloads of this issue are approximately 120,000.  It's due out in December, and it will include interviews with our Master of Wine, Anthony Foster and myself.  Reservations at the hotel lodge have already been great, and we expect to see a surge in reservations after this issue is published, so our staff is going to be busier than ever!  Congratulations AWE, staff!  Your hard work is appreciated, and we're all very proud of you for making AWE the best!

We recently had some new signage installed at Algodon Wine Estates, and it looks great!  In addition to the lettering and logo on the front of the winery (pictured), there is a new sign for the entrance that now displays "Algodon Wine Estates & Champions Club."  On my recent visit to the estate, I was very impressed to see how far along the tennis courts have come; they're almost finished.  Our construction crew is doing an incredible job.

Pablo Veloso, the General Manager of Algodon Mansion, and his administrative staff have officially moved their workstations into the mansion's offices.  Besides this being an efficient new location, being there behind the scenes will also allow them to forge the necessary relationships with the staff members who are the public faces of Algodon Mansion.  I know they're all excited about finally settling into their new home offices.

Here is a link to an interesting bit of press Algodon Wine Estates recently received.  The article appears in Argentina's La Nacion, and in it our Argentine Marketing Coordinator, Fernando Coelho, is interviewed regarding the current popularity and importance of sustainable, ecofriendly living communities, and talks of our efforts to live up to these important standards.

The amount of media coverage we've seen for our properties in the last few weeks is staggering.  How and why, I don't know, but I will attribute it to the great team of people in NYC, BA, and Mendoza.  We've appeared in this month's Delta Sky Magazine, MartiniLife, La Nación, and Area 3 Magazine (a widely distributed publication in Mendoza).

A final thought...One question people have asked me is how we intend to market our estate lots in this economy.  My answer is simple; by having guests stay at the estate and experience it firsthand for themselves.  That is the best possible way to generate interest and sell our project, and with the overwhelming press and media that we have been - and continue to - receive, we are generating the potential for buyers, literally on a daily basis.  Our appearance in these top of the line travel publications, magazines and periodicals continuously stokes the flames of our properties' recognition as alluring luxury travel destinations, and potentially the ideal place for a first, second or third home for enjoyment or investment.
