José Luis Clerc: 2009 US Open & Algodon Wine Estates' Tennis Center is almost ready for play!

We are proud to report that at this year's U.S. Tennis Open (Aug 31-Sept 13), ESPN International's coverage to Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America was anchored from New York in part by José Luis Clerc, Algodon Wine Estates' Ambassador & Director of the Clerc Tennis Academy.  Clerc also handled play-by-play on ESPN Deportes, the Spanish-language U.S. network, through September 10 with fellow former tennis player Nicolas Pereira and reporters Eduardo Varela and Sophie Cortina.  As a former Argentine tennis champion, Clerc offers a certain historical distinction to the Latin American community as well as to tennis fans around the world, and we feel honored to have him on our Algodon team.

Algodon Wine Estates' tennis courts have seen great progress since our last update.  To date, 8 clay courts and 1 hard court have been fully constructed and are only awaiting the addition of fences and nets to be completed.  These final touches will be put in place in the following weeks, in time for the Argentine summer's playing season.  Final seeding for the remaining 3 grass courts and construction on the Grand Center Court is scheduled to follow directly.

The tennis center's design architect, Gerhard Heusch, has released the latest rendering of the Grand Center Court which features VIP seating as well as retractable sun shade sails.  This mini stadium, which will be constructed several feet below ground level allowing for unobstructed panoramic views from above, will accommodate nearly 700 spectators.

*Algodon Wine Estates would like to take this opportunity to send warm congratulations to Juan Martín del Potro for his US Open win!  Good job, Juan!
