Algodon Extra Virgin Olive Oil Wins National Gold Medal!

In a recent international olive oil tasting competition held in Argentina’s wine capital of Mendoza, our estate-grown olive oil won the gold medal for the “blended” category. In an associated wine tasting competition, our 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon also won a silver medal. Diego Coll Benegas, Algodon Wine Estates’ Director of Project Development, Tourism & Hospitality, was on hand to represent our brand and accept the award on our behalf. This is the second-largest competition of its kind in South America, and it is ranked 16th in importance out of 151 major wine competitions in the world...

José Luis Clerc: 2009 US Open & Algodon Wine Estates' Tennis Center is almost ready for play!

We are proud to report that at this year’s U.S. Tennis Open (Aug 31-Sept 13), ESPN International’s coverage to Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America was anchored from New York in part by José Luis Clerc, Algodon Wine Estates’ Ambassador & Director of the Clerc Tennis Academy. Clerc also handled play-by-play on ESPN Deportes, the Spanish-language U.S. network. Algodon Wine Estates’ tennis courts have seen great progress since our last update. To date, 8 clay courts and 1 hard court have been fully constructed and are only awaiting the addition of fences and nets to be completed…

Buenos Aires based Taminá clothiers have a valued reputation for “haute couture in a uniform.” Formed in 1990 by designer Nathalie Corcia, Taminá has designed garments for the personnel of several of the city’s top luxury hotels including Alvear Palace, Caesar Park, Park Hyatt Buenos Aires and Four Seasons, among others. Buenos Aires among world’s 10 happiest cities

Buenos Aires ranks as one of Forbes Top 10 Happiest Cities in 2009.  The ranking comes from an unscientific poll conducted by Anholt-GfK Roper City Brands Index, where 10,000 people in 20 countries were asked what they perceived to be the world's happiest cities.  Brazil's Rio de Janeiro tops the list, followed by Sydney, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Melbourne, Madrid, San Francisco, Rome, Paris, and Buenos Aires which placed 10th on the list out of 50 cities that were voted on.

Tango declared part of world's cultural heritage by U.N.

Tango was declared part of the world's cultural heritage by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) on Wednesday, and granted the international seal of approval. The 24 members of UNESCO's Intergovernmental Committee of Intangible Heritage granted the tango dance and its music protected cultural status.
