The Algodon

Editorial from Scott Mathis, Chairman & Founder

Algodon Mansion is nearly 100% occupied for its opening week!  Our christening guests are scheduled to stay with us beginning November 14, and I am told by General Manager Pablo Veloso that we're already receiving daily requests for information regarding our opening and availability from the press, direct clients, and tour operators who wish to start promoting the property.  Construction on the hotel is scheduled for completion next month when we expect the keys to be handed over to our operations director at which time we will immediately begin loading in furniture and other finalizing details.  Don't forget to check out the new Algodon Mansion website.

Algodon Mansion recently received some wonderful news in regards to a joint marketing campaign with Louis Vuitton.  The French fashion designer loves the concept of the hotel; particularly its sophistication, exclusivity, membership packages, and privacy.  Our next corporate mailing will include an Algodon Mansion preopening brochure with a letter of introduction to Algodon properties, and Louis Vuitton will include their exclusive Mother's Day Catalogue (Mother's Day in Argentina falls on the third Sunday of October) that will only be available in stores at a later time.  Also in October, Louis Vuitton will host a celebrity photo shoot in one of Algodon Mansion's Royale Suites.  The spread will appear in CARAS Magazine; one of Argentina's top sellers, and the celebrities will be modeling handbags and jewelry.  We are also scheduled to host Louis Vuitton private showroom events for top buyers in the restaurant and possibly in one of our suites, later in the year and in early 2010 and beyond.

Algodon Mansion has received a lot of press in the last few weeks including a nice article coming up in Delta Sky Magazine, and the "what's new" section of the August issue of Vanity Fair.  Delta Sky Magazine reaches over five million readers monthly, and Vanity Fair has a circulation of over one million subscribers.  We can also be seen in Unique Homes magazine where Algodon Wine Estates appears in a full page feature titled "On Location:  The Next Napa Valley."  It's currently available on your local newsstand, so look for us on page 42!  Algodon Mansion gets a nice plug on the bottom of the page, as well.  Unique Homes magazine focuses on luxury real estate, and targets high-end consumers and sellers.  It has a circulation of over 70,000 readers and topics covered include "European castles, oceanfront contemporaries, world-class resort properties and luxurious hideaways."  Algodon Wine Estates is also currently featured on the Elite Traveler website, which receives approximately 80,000 hits per month.  The website focuses on luxury travel and targets affluent readers throughout the U.S., so this is another great outlet for Algodon!  Last but not least, Rubén Barsamian, Algodon Wine Estates' COO was recently interviewed in Areadelvino.com.  The article is Spanish, but you can click here for a rough English translation.

I would like to extend hardy congratulations to our celebrated winemaker, Mauro Nosenzo, who won third place in an adventure race in Tunuyan, Mendoza.  Evidently, Mauro is a great athlete and he is certainly representative our sporting spirit at Algodon Wine Estates Champions Club.  The adventure race consists of 18km over the mountains passing through accumulated snow at 2,500 meters above sea level. Mauro will be also participating in "El desafío de Valle Grande triathlon" which will take place in San Rafael's Valle Grande this month.  The triathlon (trekking, mountain bike, and paddling) will be a 6 hour challenge.  Good luck, Mauro!

Argentina's Eduardo Romero has been recently featured in the press with the headline: "Romero helps golf grow in Argentina".  (It is mentioned in the article that Romero is from Cordoba...Angel Cabrera, who was also prominently featured in the news this year for winning the Masters, also hails from Cordoba, as does the rising young golf talent Tano Goya.  Cordoba seems to be ground zero for some remarkable players.)  Romero is quoted in the article; "Probably a couple of years ago, the first sport in Argentina, it was football, and now it's golf... Golf is going up and up."  This is just more good news for our Champions' Club and the growing world-wide association with Argentina and golf!

Finally, I'm pleased to announce that in the last round of financing for Algodon Properties, we have completely subscribed our most recent funding round of $15,000,000.  In fact, we have received subscriptions for an additional 3 million.  This will bring the total amount of funds raised by our partnerships to over $29,000,000 for Algodon projects.  This funding is fundamental to our goals in these final months before the grand opening of the mansion in Buenos Aires and the new construction of the tennis courts and clubhouse in San Rafael.  Thanks to our partners and associates who have made this possible!  Together we are creating value and potentially building wealth.  It excites me to see our properties grow in worth, recognition, reputation, and status quite literally from week to week and month to month.  While we all deserve congratulations for working together to make this happen, the journey is not over yet!  Let's push on until the end, and see it through together!
