Jose Luis Clerc visits Algodon Wine Estates and draws a huge crowd of fans in San Rafael!

On a recent visit to Algodon Wine Estates, José Luis Clerc, Scott Mathis, and Gerhard Heusch met to discuss future plans for the Algodon Wine Estates/Clerc Tennis Academy.  Construction is set to begin in April, 2009 with the goal of having the courts ready for play by the fall of this year; in time for an international Challenger Tournament and tennis clinics scheduled to be hosted at the facilities.  Mr. Clerc and Algodon Wine Estates' Director of Hospitality & Tourism, Diego Coll Benegas, later met with local government officials in San Rafael to discuss the planned tournament and clinics, and bolster government support for this and other events hosted by us in the future- as these events will surely garner international attention and potentially benefit the entire region's economy, production and tourism traffic.

While visiting San Rafael, Mr. Clerc also took the opportunity to play tennis with Mr. Mathis at a local tennis club, where they were surprised to be met by over 100 Clerc fans and autograph seekers, as well as local television, radio and newspaper reporters.  Mr. Clerc improvised a tennis clinic with several young, aspiring tennis players from the area that were in attendance.  Mr. Clerc's reputable charisma and enthusiasm were well-received by the press and local fans, who were also very happy to learn of his new affiliation with San Rafael and Algodon Wine Estates.  He later granted interviews to the reporters in attendance, and the unexpected turnout served as a wonderful public relations opportunity for our project.  You can read more about this event at the DPEC Partners website, in the news section here.

The new tennis center at Algodon Wine Estates will include 9 clay courts (including a center court mini-stadium), as well as 1 hard court and 1 grass court.
