Stephen Tanzer gives positive reviews to Algodon Wine

Internationally recognized wine critic, Stephen Tanzer, and the acclaimed bimonthly International Wine Cellar online magazine have favorably reviewed Algodon Wine Estates 2004 Malbec, 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2004 Bonarda. Each wine scored an encouraging 87 with Mr. Tanzer, who described the Malbec as; “sweet and nicely concentrated, with good breadth to the smoke and bitter chocolate flavors...No shortage of substance.” Mr. Tanzer’s review, which appears in the Jan/Feb ’09 issue, focuses on “the best new wines from Argentina” (this is also the article’s title) and includes reviews of nearly 300 recommended and notable wines from several different wine producing regions throughout the country. On Argentine wine, Mr. Tanzer reminds his readers that; “Paying $40 or more—and in some cases much more—for icon bottlings of malbec is no guarantee of a superior bottle.” He goes on to say; “in your rush to try malbecs, don’t overlook Argentina’s cabernet sauvignons, which can be very good.”

International Wine Cellar is an independent journal read by wine professionals and other wine lovers in all 50 states and 34 countries, and the first American wine periodical to be translated into French and Japanese.

Stephen Tanzer is the author of The Wine Access Buyer's Guide (Sterling Publishing), a concise yet comprehensive guide to the best bottles and producers from virtually every important wine region of the world.
